I’m back from tour and have been spending most of my time at Jacknife Sound. Being alone in the studio can be daunting but when you let your guard down and PLAY it can be euphoric. These are the moments when the magic really happens. Channeling a higher power even. Is it me writing? Yes and no.
There’s a group from the UK that have sent me a single to remix (I’ll be sharing who soon). Usually my remixes stick to the stems I’m sent, a new beat, and some synths. Today I’m recording guitar too. I was in the mood to keep playing so I pulled up a new ACTORS song I’m working on called “I’m not Here” and recorded a take with my camera on.
And for you gear nerds: I’m playing my custom Charvel with Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded humbucker pickups, the JB (SH-4) in bridge position. For pedals I’m hitting a BOSS eq pedal will some lows taken out and a small mid bump > my trusty old school EH Small Clone > Source Audio Nemesis Delay on the tape setting > Fender Hot Rod Deluxe > Marshall closed back 2x12 > Royer R-101 ribbon mic > AMS Neve 1073DPX > Apogee Symphony MK2. My monitors are Dynaudio LYD 48s.
